My name is Saba Hashemi, a ceramicist working in Kashan, Iran.

I graduated from the Art University of Kashan in Handicrafts Art, Ceramics, and Pottery in 2017.

I have been focused on researching Ash glazes (a high-fire glaze technique that has historically been important in East Asia) since 2016.

Sabaha was started in 2017, my studio is where I make functional wares like bowls, plates, and other forms by hand and on the pottery wheel, I make my clay using natural soils collected from the local environment, combined with other materials to achieve the right texture.

I also utilize various kind of Ash glazes made from collected ashes, after washing and screening the ashes, I attempt mixing them with other materials according to the formula, over these years I have tried to improve the quality and the variety of both ash glazes and clay bodies together.

My work is inspired by nature and my passion for the environment, so I also feel the responsibility as an artist to work sustainably.
